MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A woman stabbed in a vicious attack 18 years ago spoke publicly Friday for the first time.
Jane Boroski said she hopes someone out there will have information she needs to identify the man who almost took her life.
In August 1988, when she was 22 years old and 7 months pregnant, Boroski stopped at a convenience store in Swanzey.
"Next thing I knew, I looked in my rearview mirror and he was walking behind my car, and he came over and opened my door," Boroski said. "We struggled in the car. He wanted me to go with him, and I was really determined not to go with him."
At first, Boroski thought she had escaped.
"He came back toward me, and I started running," she said. "He chased after me, got me down and started stabbing me."
Boroski was stabbed 27 times and left for dead, but she said she lived with the memory of her attacker's face.
She is confident that a man named Michael Nicholau stabbed her.
Last year, Nicholau shot and killed his stepdaughter and his wife in Florida, then took his own life.
Boroski and private investigator Lynn-Marie Carty believes that Nicholau is not only responsible for Boroski's attack, but also for some of the Connecticut River Valley killings in the 1980s. Six women were murdered.
Investigators with New Hampshire State Police said they have not linked Nicholau to the crimes but confirmed they are investigating the claims.
Boroski still lives in N.H. and has two children. The daughter with whom she was pregnant during the attack turns 18 next week.
